What is a codemode?
Code mode means the model writes a short program instead of making one tool call at a time. A sandbox runs the program, and the program calls the tools.
Here, the tool is p5.brush and the sandbox is the harness. The model writes one small ES module, and the harness runs it frame by frame as a stop-motion piece. The same code at the same time gives the same pixels.
The program shape
motion(clock, meta) writes the time. A flower can bloom; a pattern can hold still and move only its border. The layout (L3) names the draw parts the program must export: by default sector(b, t), one wedge repeated meta.symmetry times, and centre(b, t). meta sets symmetry, seed, fps, mirror and ground.
The harness owns the clock, the canvas, the seeds, push/pop isolation and the budget. The layout and the helpers belong to the pattern.
Abstraction ladder
Each level hides the one below it. A small model that works high on the ladder has fewer choices to get wrong. L3 and L4 belong to the pattern, and you can edit both in the Layout and Helpers boxes.
A pattern
A pattern is a family of programs with one idea: lily, ink mandala, Kalka / Kairi, or one you propose below. A pattern is its layout (L3), its helpers (L4) and a starter program. The medium is not part of it: the same lily can be painted in watercolour, charcoal or ink with t.medium(...). Every rating records which pattern the program came from and whether you edited it.
What a rating captures
Love / Okay / No (keys 1 / 2 / 3) saves the exact code, the frame and growth on screen, render stats, the initial image prompt you wrote, the pattern, and the layout and helpers it ran with. A trace replays pixel for pixel.
Rules and budgets
No imports, DOM, network, Date or Math.random; use t.random(). At most 6,000 brush calls a frame (a filled shape counts 12), and a frame over 400 ms three times in a row halts the program. Same code at the same time must give the same pixels.
